ABOUT THE PHOTO CONTEST “WOMAN FARMER: FACES OF THE EARTH”
Project Mission
The year 2026 has been declared by the United Nations as the International Year of the Woman Farmer. This is a time when the world turns its gaze to those who work the land daily, from dawn till dusk, to ensure there is bread on our tables and warmth and comfort in our homes.
The International Photo Contest “Woman Farmer: Faces of the Earth” is a large-scale project designed to capture and show the world the true heroines of our time: women whose hands are shaping the future of agriculture.
About the Organizers
The contest was established by the Regional Public Organization “International Union of Women” and is held with the technical assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office with the Russian Federation, as well as with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. This high level of partnership confirms the project’s significance and its alignment with the global sustainable development agenda.
Goals and Objectives
We have set an ambitious yet noble goal – to create a unique photographic chronicle of the labor, traditions, and way of life of women farmers around the world. Through camera lenses, we aim to:

Showcase the beauty and multifaceted nature of agricultural labor;

Strengthen the prestige of professions connected to the land;

Visually support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, primarily ending hunger and ensuring gender equality;

Identify and support talented photographers who document life in rural areas.
Contest Categories
We invite you to participate in five inspiring categories:

| “Portrait on the Land” | An artistic portrait of a woman farmer in work or traditional clothing, conveying her character, strength of spirit, and unbreakable connection to the land. |
| “Labor as Art” | Reportage and staged shots that reveal the poetry and beauty of agricultural work. |
| “Gifts of the Earth” | Still lifes and macro shots celebrating the generosity of nature and the results of women’s labor. |
| “Traditions and Modernity” | Photographs reflecting the harmonious blend of age-old farming traditions and modern agricultural technologies. |
| “Family Farm” | Heartwarming shots showing women working with their families, passing on experience and traditions to their children. |
Who Can Participate?
We are open to everyone who shares our passion for this theme. The following are invited to participate:

Professional photographers;

Amateur photographers;

Women farmers themselves, who can act either as the authors of the photos or as the heroines of the shots.
There are no age restrictions. The most important things are sincerity, love for the land, and respect for labor.
Terms of Participation
Participation in the contest is free. Submissions are accepted from March 1 to September 25, 2026, on the official website.
Awards and Prospects
Winners and finalists of the contest will receive certificates of merit. Their works will be included in a special photo album-catalog “Woman Farmer: Faces of the Earth” and will also be presented at final photo exhibitions in Moscow, Russian regions, and at international venues. The best photographs will be seen by audiences in leading Russian and foreign media.
